The ISO defines accreditation as a third-party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks.

Certification vs Accreditation

GAP certification is an independent, third-party endorsement of a horticulture business's assurance systems and crops, while accreditation is a third-party endorsement of the audit system within which certified businesses operate (i.e. Accreditation of AsureQuality and SGS NZ Limited).
